BRIDGING THE ENGINEERING PROFESSION –Promoting Engineers and Engineering to all sections of society in association with the North East Engineering Institutions and linking with the Engineering Technology Board (ETB) of the Engineering Council (UK)

Welcome to the Home page of the Professional Engineers North East (PENE). We are an association of the Engineering Institutions and Institution Branches in the North East whose area broadly covers the Government Office North Eastern area. All Institutions which are nominated bodies of the Engineering Council, and other associations with similar aims and objectives can apply for membership of PENE.

OUR AIM…..To promote engineers and engineering to all sections of society and to facilitate initiatives to attract young people into the engineering profession.

OUR OBJECTIVES…

To promote the engineering profession in schools and colleges in partnership with the four SETPOINT and established providers, such as the Engineering Education Scheme, The year in industry, INPUT, Young engineers and Science and Engineering Ambassadors.
To give support in the field of careers advice in partnership with the Engineering Employers Federation (EEF) and EMTA.
To promote the profession to the local media by way of occasional press releases relating to matters of likely interest to the public at large.
To produce and maintain an on-line calendar of technical meetings of participating and kindred Institutions
To stage an annual prestige lecture on a topic of interest to the general public.
